Pear and citrus aromas, rich flavors of green apple with a hint of lemon, surrounded by toasty French oak, followed by a clean, crisp, lingering finish.”

.

Clean and fruity, straightforward in a fresh-picked piquant style, this pear and apple-scented offering finds added notes of grains, oak and gunpowder in its aromatic makeup and repeats those complex bits in flavors that are medium in density and still on the youthful, not yet fully developed side. Time is clearly on its side, and the wine can be held for a bit yet.
.

The 2009 Silver Label Cabernet Sauvignon reflects a blending of grapes grown from select North Coast vineyards. This combination offers full, rich flavors of berry, cassis and black cherry with hints of vanilla in the background. Aging with French oak adds complexity and depth, resulting in a high quality Cabernet Sauvignon with great value.

.

The 2009 Zinfandel is produced from grapes selected from the finest Zinfandel vineyards in the Sonoma Valley. This combination yields a blend of berry and cherry aromas mingled with the bouquet of creamy vanilla custard and a hint of peppercorn and clove. The 2009 Zinfandel is full-bodied and warm with a long smooth berry flavored finish.

B.R. Cohn Zinfandel is aged for 18 months in carefully chosen French and American oak barrels. This wine compliments a wide range of foods such as lamb, duck and all cuts of steak and ribs

B.R. Cohn Winery is located in the heart of the Sonoma Valley. This small family operated winery is surrounded by the 90-acre Olive Hill Estate Vineyards, where soils warmed by underground natural hot springs and gentle ocean breezes create a unique microclimate resulting in ideal growing conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon. B.R. Cohn also produces Chardonnay from the Carneros Region and Merlot from Sonoma Valley.

Three Theives… THE SHOW

Taking THE SHOW on the Road

In 2005, the Three Thieves partnered with Nashville’s Hatch Show Print to create a crowd-pleasing favorite - “The Show.” Since its launch, the Thieves have set the standard for emerging wine brands with their daring packaging and great quality. The Show adds yet another breath of fresh air to the sometimes-stuffy world of wine as its big, bold varietals meet big, bold labels. So if you’re ready to enjoy a more adventurous wine that speaks to your personality, The Show’s Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec are sure to win your heart! Without further ado, we encourage you to sit back, relax, and ENJOY THE SHOW!

2009 Cabernet Sauvignon

The Show combines grapes from the Central Coast, Sonoma County, Lake County, Lodi and Monterey AVA’s. Anchored by full-bodied Cabernet, it also features Petite Sirah which gives it a deep ruby color and a hint of violets on the nose. The Show is aged in French and American oak.

2010 Malbec

This Malbec comes from two very special regions within Mendoza, Argentina. 85% of the wine comes from the acclaimed Lujan de Cuyo sub-region from a vineyard called “El Alto”, which is 3,000 feet above sea level. This region brings dark fruit character and broad ripe tannins to The Show Malbec. The other 15% of the Malbec comes from the Uco Valley, which is south of Lujan de Cuyo, yet closer to the Andes Mountains and at an even higher altitude. This region adds Malbec with more acidity and complexity. The Show Malbec was aged for 9 months in 25% new French oak.

2010 Pinot Noir

The cool winds (from the Humboldt Current) keep the fruit yields naturally to a minimum, giving us wines that have a lot of depth and rich concentration. That depth is balanced by the refreshing acidity, silky tannins, and good minerality. The aromatics are of pie spice, wild cherries, red fruit.

Newton Red Label Chardonnay 2009

winemaker’s notes:

Enticing and delicate aromas of white nectarine and vanilla spice are intertwined with baked apple and caramel notes. The aromas carry through to the palate where they are accented by ripe melon and fresh pineapple flavors. The velvety mouthfeel of this well-balanced Chardonnay persists throughout the lingering and refreshing citrus finish.

The lush and approachable flavors of this balanced wine make it a versatile, food-friendly choice. Winemaker Chris Millard suggests pairing with baked halibut, roasted poultry or a savory pecan tart.

critical acclaim:

“Yellow-gold. Spiced apple and pear on the nose, lifted by lemon zest and flowers. Supple, sweet and easygoing, with moderately concentrated flavors of apricot, pear and vanillin oak. Nicely fresh and intense, with ripe acidity and a slight warmth on the back end.”

International Wine Cellar

&

Santa Barbara Winery 2009 ZCS California

Our first ZCS was created in 1998 when Winemaker Bruce McGuire called the staff together to taste red wine blends centered around a Zinfandel from vines that were more than 40 years old.

Everyone’s favorite was a blend of that Zinfandel with a Carignane and a Sangiovese. Bruce fine tuned the percentages and released 800 cases of this new wine in 1999 for sale in Santa Barbara.

Soon, we were receiving calls from all over the country looking for this obscure blend; a happy occurence that has led to this eleventh vintage of ZCS.

In this synergistic blend, the Zinfandel from 50 year old vines lends the jammy fruit quality to the wine, the Carignane adds density and finish, and the Sangiovese shows off cherry aromatics and flavors.

Bruce purchased all of the fruit for this vintage from Wild Rose Vineyard in Lodi, which farms to his standards. A small crop and excellent Zinfandel crop led to intense concentration and full flavors in the finished wine.

Oak aging takes place in neutral puncheons so as not to disturb the full fruit quality of ZCS. This is a very versatile, food friendly wine made to match a wide range of occasions and meals..

The Wines we’re tasting…

2007”7 Deadly Zins” -Lodi Zinfandel

A sinful blend indeed! Our flagship Zinfandel was devised by the two Phillips brothers in their search for a blended Zin so captivating that no one could refuse. With consistency in mind, the brothers decided to blend the fruit of Lodi’s finest growers to fill the bottles of Michael~David’s new-fangled wine. In the end, Seven vineyards were chosen for their superiority. Now, how do you label a wine so unique in style? Looking to their past, the two Phillips brothers quickly related the Seven Sins from their Catholic school upbringing to the seven Old Vine Zinfandels blended in their wine.

Lustful Flavors: Notes of sweet plums and pepper dominate the nose, while flavors of blueberry, raspberry, cinnamon, and black pepper pack the palate from start to finish. The silky-smooth tannins hold the wine together and deliver a soft, fruit driven experience.

Gluttonous Pairings: Our 7 Deadly pairs sinfully well with BBQ’d Salmon, prime rib or grilled veggies. Get crazy with delectable dark chocolate desserts!

Awards: QRW - The Wine Magazine 5 Star Zinfandel, Best of the Best California Zinfandels, Best Value

2007 Morning Fog Chardonnay

Each summer morning, fog billows inland through the Golden Gate, pushed by Pacific wind streams into the bowl of the San Francisco Bay.  Here, it forms deep fog banks that rest on the East Bay Hills.  In just one place, the Livermore Valley, with its unique East-West orientation, the fog banks come further east, cooling the air as it goes.  This daily phenomenon creates the Mediterranean or Marine climate found in less than 1% of the world’s land mass.  And it makes the San Francisco Bay and Livermore Valley appellations ideal for growing wine grapes that are beautifully balanced.  This Chardonnay, named Morning Fog, pays homage to this rare climate.

Tasting The Wine: Enjoy aromas of freshly cut red apple, tangerine and tropical fruits, balanced by subtle oak and vanilla from barrel aging.  With a mouth-filling body, and flavors of tart apple and toasty graham, this wine delivers a medium-long, refreshing finish.

Making The Wine: 50% of this wine was barrel fermented in French oak, while the balance was fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve the natural fruit flavors inherent in this Chardonnay. The barrel fermented portion of this wine was aged sur lie for 7 months.  Batonnage, the art of stirring the barrels, was performed monthly.  The stainless steel fermented portion was aged on lees for 7 months.

2007 Louis Mel Sauvignon Blanc

A French emigrant, Louis Mel traveled the western United States in the 1870’s seeking a place to make wines to rival the great French Crus.  He found the ideal home in the Livermore Valley.  Acquiring Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon cuttings from the Marquis de Lur-Saluces, owner of the famed Chateau d’ Yquem, he planted them in his vineyards.  The Wente family acquired the Louis Mel estate in the 1930’s, where the descendants of these vines, located in the southern Livermore Valley, live in gravel and loam soils similar to the terroir of their native Bordeaux.

Tasting The Wine: This Sauvignon Blanc has a beautiful grassy color and aromas of guava, melon, gooseberry, citrus, and tropical fruits.  With crisp acidity and flavors of honeydew melon and pineapple, this wine delivers a clean and refreshing finish.

Making The Wine: The grapes were fermented cold to ensure their natural fruitiness was retained. This wine was aged in stainless steel tanks.
