With ample experience in making and aging great wines dating back to 1964, in 1998, Santiago Ijalba Garcia left his position as winemaker in a historic Haro bodega to launch his own personal project of signature wines. Today, the family bodega already includes a new generation. Young Roberto Ijalba Perezs passion for oenological innovation and cutting-edge trends are beginning to make their mark. The wines are made with grapes rigorously selected from about 100 hectares of vineyards in Rioja Alta. They are aged in the bodega’s fourteen hundred 225-litre French and American oak casks.

In 1995 Pablo Fallabrino (son of Italian immigrants from Piedmont, Italy), got in charge of Vinedo de los Vientos after the passing of his father. At this point it was a vineyard, but Pablo had bigger aspirations. In 1997 he decided to start his own winery and to achieve it, he bought state of the art equipment from Italy. March 1998 was the first vintage, it took Pablo three years to fine tune his winemaking skills and see what he wanted to produce. With a new vision of winemaking he developed an amazing range of different wines, always looking to create for something unique and special.

Ayana Pinot Noir is a cult project that puts into bottle the best Pinot Noir available at its price point out of California. Talented winemakers in the high end California Pinot market are tapped to find wine that is worth twice the price and make it Ayana.

Dark ruby in color, this blend has savory and spicy aromas of eucalyptus, blueberry, wild sage, and allspice with hints of smoke and beeswax. The mid palate is full bodied with lush flavors of black fruits and spice box. This wine has a big, balanced tannin structure that leads into a long finish making it a nice complement to grilled meats and tomato based Italian dishes.
